Day 1 – Tuesday March 26, 2024

  • Setup for Renpy Workshops
  • 80 minutes How to Write for Video Games workshop
  • 10 minute break
  • 80 minutes Pixel Art Workshop using Pixel Studio
  • 10 minute break
  • Begin Renpy Workshop

Day 2 – Wednesday March 27, 2024

  • Finish Renpy Workshop 45 minutes
  • 10 minute break
  • Break up into teams and choose roles
  • Collaboration Tools
    • Digital Whiteboarding
    • Kanban boards
  • 10 minute break
  • Collaborate – Create a scene together
    • Decide on a genre, a character, and a scenario
    • what choice will the player have to make?
  • 10 minute break
  • Assign work on Kanban boards
    • Artist – Draw 2-3 characters with proper formatting. Choose 1 background
    • Writer – Write a script for one scene, including at least 1 menu choice
    • Programmer – Throw together a demo prototype. Provide sample images already formatted for them to use.

Day 3 – Thursday March 28, 2024

  • Get the menu choice working
  • 10 minute break
  • Combine character designs, background images, dialogue, and menu choice.
    • Add sound effects (if you have time)
  • Publish your finished project
    • Make Distribution Builds
    • Email copy of .zip archived file to shaunDmcmillan@bestclassever.org
  • Present Demo Games
  • If we have extra time then we can look at branching narrative structures
