NEWER, EVEN EASIER VERSION OF ALLIANCE! Early Access Now Available

ALLIANCE Lite is a recently developed 90 minute to 2 hour version of ALLIANCE, which uses

  • 7 faction tarot-sized cards
  • a deck of 53 poker cards
  • a mini deck of 30 cards (four tokens/currencies)
  • a free website that handles most of the adjudication

The Original Megagame for up to 100 players
The original ALLIANCE Megagame has been developed and fully tested with students, in Chinese, with students of various ages over the last 10 years. I even ran it for 100 players at Gen Con.

The bigger version is available by PDF upon request. It’s well tested–it’s been through 3 major versions over the course of 11 years.

Early Access Prototype
This newer, easier, lighter version is still in it’s early development stages, and not yet perfect, but it is very easy to run. I have successfully run 3 playtests. It’s the game I suggest for those running their first megagame.

  • 2 Teachers ran it for 40-50 students in Atlanta. These teachers had no experience with designer board games yet the students loved it!
  • I tried it with 5 adult players around a table in Taiwan for an hour &
  • We played it for 2 hours in Singapore with 30 young adults.

This simulates the Ai Arms Race likely to take place between America, China, and Taiwan as the frontier Ai models compete with each other. The game can have 4-7 factions, each with 1-4 players (5-28 players total).

I would say it feels like a political science social deduction game, but with rules a little simpler than Mafia.

I’ll be testing it more in the future, and this week I made the faction cards bigger tarot-sized cards so that the text is easier to read. I should probably also design a box for it…

For those interested in testing the game you can order an early developer’s beta test version at TheGameCrafter.com.
