“This is a fantastic class!  My daughter found the concept of drawing her notes much more appealing than writing them out.  She also really enjoyed this instructor and asked to take more of his classes.”

“My son really enjoyed this class. He spent the next 15 minutes after class teaching me what he learned! He is confident he has gained a new skill to help him through highschool and on to college and in life.”

In this Live Interactive Step-by-Step Online Tutoring Session I will

  1. Show various different examples of Visual Notes taken by myself, taken by previous students, and by professional graphic designers.
  2. Walk students step by step through some different methods, techniques, and structures they can implement, and then
  3. We will practice the technique and show off our notes to everyone else in the class.

I taught high school graphic design classes for 9 years, and nearly all of my students loved this technique.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Does my student need to be good at drawing?

A: Absolutely not! The drawing techniques we use for visual note-taking are the same drawing skills one uses for party games like pictionary–quick and to the point. If they can draw stick figures, emoticons, or smiley faces then they are more than skilled enough to learn this technique.

Q: How does this technique compare to other note-taking techniques?

A: Visual note-taking is a combination of 5 techniques that can dramatically improve and be incorporated into other note-taking methods. It can easily be combined with mind-mapping, traditional note-taking, and/or the Cornell method.

Q: Can my student use a tablet to take their notes?

A: Absolutely! Technology can add additional layers of complexity, so to keep it simple we recommend using drawing apps and tool settings that the student is already familiar with so they aren’t distracted by all the various options.
